Palm Springs, CA – December  2009: Agua Caliente Cultural Museum is pleased to announce the dates for this year’s Festival of Native Film and Culture. The 2010 Festival, which includes feature films, documentaries, and short films from some of today’s premier Native American and international indigenous filmmakers, will be held Wednesday, March 10 through Sunday, March 14. All screenings and receptions will take place at the Camelot Theatres, 2300 E. Baristo Road, Palm Springs. Filmgoers are invited to attend an Opening Night Reception at the theatre followed by the 8:00 p.m. film screening. Complete information and schedule for the Festival of Native Film and Culture will be available in January 2010 at www.accmuseum.org.

Now in its ninth season, the Festival of Native Film and Culture is one of the nation’s most highly-regarded festivals of its kind – showcasing the best in films by, about, and starring Native people. One of Palm Springs’ signature film festivals, the Festival of Native Film & Culture looks at both historical and contemporary issues facing indigenous peoples around the world.

Agua Caliente Cultural Museum, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit institution, inspires people to learn about the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and other Native cultures. It keeps the Native spirit alive through exhibitions, collections, research, and educational programs. In recognition of its role as a regional and national resource, Agua Caliente Cultural Museum is the first Native American museum to be part of the prestigious Smithsonian Institution Affiliations Program. This status provides opportunities to share resources in programming, collections, scholarship, and technical expertise – and entitles the Museum to bring world-acclaimed Smithsonian exhibitions to the Coachella Valley.
