The Reno Gazette is reporting this morning that “the Pinehaven fire has destroyed 20 homes; nearly all Washoe schools closed; new evacuation center Galena High. The fire, still estimated to be about 400 acres, has broken up into two large sections: One in the Manzanita-Skyline area and the other in the foothills near Windy Hill. Hernandez does not expect to be able to use any aircraft to fight the flames because of the winds. The fire is burning in steep canyons and ravines that are difficult to reach.”
