On September 28th, 2011, the Quarry Visitor Center opened. This is not the building that houses the famous cliff wall of dinosaur bones. That building is called the Quarry Exhibit Hall and it is not open yet. The Quarry Exhibit Hall is located one half mile from the new visitor center.

The Quarry Exhibit Hall will open on October 4th, 2011.

The park recommends that you postpone your visit until at least October 4th if at all possible. If that is not an option, a few dinosaur fossils can be seen along the Fossil Discovery Trail. Click the link below.

Please Note: The monument is over 210,000 acres in size, but theconstruction zone/dinosaur fossil area encompasses less than 100 acres, located on the west side of the park in Utah. 99% the park contains no dinosaur fossil exhibits. The rest of the park is famous for sweeping scenery, rushing rivers, dramatic canyons, and a rich cultural history.

The Plan Your Visit and Things to Do pages have more information about activities within Dinosaur National Monument, including ranger-led programshiking, petroglyph viewing, and river rafting.

The Quarry Exhibit Hall was closed six years ago due to structural damage caused by expansive soils. When the rehabilitation project is completed this fall, over 1500 prepared dinosaur bones will once again see the light of day. The bones are currently protected inside a massive plywood box that is not open to tours.
