The prickly pear cactus fruit has a sweet flavor as well as health benefits.

Researchers from the University of Arizona and two Chinese Universities conducted a study that showed anti-cancer effects in certain types of cancer. The Prickly Pear Cactus extracts inhibited the growth of cancer cells in Ovarian Cancer, Cervical Cancer and Bladder Cancer.  Prickly Pear Fruit can be eaten raw, made into jam, syrup, tea and juice.  The fruit can also be used to make salad dressing, glazes for chicken and fish … the uses are endless.
