Search Underway for Missing Californian Man at Lake Mohave

BOULDER CITY, Nevada – National Park Service rangers are searching for a missing 31-year-old Southern California man who was last seen in the water near Cottonwood Cove on Lake Mohave.

At 12:07 p.m. Aug. 16, the Lake Mead Interagency Communication Center received a call reporting that the man jumped off a boat into the water. He began to struggle and was last seen going under water. Witnesses said the victim was not wearing a life jacket.

National Park Service rangers, Nevada Department of Wildlife game wardens and employees from the nearby marina immediately began searching for the missing person who is believed to be around 100 yards from the shoreline in an area that is 80-100 feet deep. The water in the area is usually clear, but due to recent storms, visibility is very limited, making the search more challenging.

Crews are continuing to search the area. The incident is under investigation.
