Even in the middle of Summer, many people hike at the top of the La Quinta Cove, usually starting about sunrise.  It doesn’t get too hot until 10am, at least that is when I would be off the trail!  I usually like to start about 5:30-6:00am, and am done by 9:00am at the latest.
