BRENTWOOD, CA - A former world enduro champion and his riding school teams up with a national trail recreation group to help keep off-road riding areas open.

Earlier this month, Shane Watts, six time Australian Enduro Champion, 1997 World Enduro Champion, 2000 Grand National Cross Country Pro Champion, and owner of the Dirt Wise Riding School made a substantial donation to the BlueRibbon Coalition at an East Bay ranch near Brentwood California. Watts stated, "As an off-road professional, I feel it is important to impart a land-use ethic to my students. Riding is a privilege and we all must do our part to keep trail opportunities available for this and future generations."
Shane Watts' Dirt Wise Offroad Riding School was in Northern California offering off-road motorcycle enthusiasts an opportunity to learn the "tricks of the trade." About 25 students of all skill levels attended a two day field seminar taught by Shane Watts and his fellow instructor, GNCC XC2 pro racer, Cole Calkins.

Besides teaching the attendees important riding skills, the school also instructed the class on the importance of respecting private property, staying on the trail, and limiting excessive exhaust noise.
Along with the donation to the BlueRibbon Coalition to help keep riding areas open, the Dirt Wise Offroad Riding School has also committed in 2008 to donate to the organization a portion of each student's entry fee from every Dirt Wise school he conducts nation wide. Watts concluded, "My school is proud to be partnered with the BlueRibbon Coalition's efforts to promote and protect responsible off-road riding on public and private lands."
