Re: The Hog Canyon rattle snake faker.

It's no biggie, Djui5. I don't follow this forum all that closely at the moment. Is the grass you are talking about red in color and resembles a droopy looking wheat? If so, I have seen them along the Dutchman's Trail #104 just north of Miner's Needle. To me that sounds like a rustling rattle kind o...

Re: The Hog Canyon rattle snake faker.

Now that is a rather funny practical joke. I suppose it could be possible that a borrowing owl could have been it. There are some islands in the middle of the Hog Canyon drainage. Although I wonder what kind of a borrow they would have with the drainage running at the time.

Looks like there is either some gold or iron pyrite mixed in there.

Re: Quartz in the Supers

Thanks for the info E! Now I wondering if those chunks of quartz come from a seam that as broken apart ? Or do those chunks form underground and work their way to the surface? roc In this particular case, I'm inclined to say that neither applies. At the time when I was on Peter's Mesa, I didn't und...

Re: Quartz in the Supers

Interesting! That was chunk of rose quartz lying on the ground? Yes it was just lying on the ground along Peter's Trail along the section where the trail runs from NW to SE on it' s way to the east end of the Mesa from the west end. Various sizes and shades of red. Some of it looked like it was mad...

Re: Quartz in the Supers

I had noticed that Peters Mesa is loaded with rose quartz when I was there in 2010. I had seen a whole bunch of it along side the trail up there.

Re: DID JULIA SELF-PROMOTE THE LDM LEGEND?

Roc I agree One of the most damaging stories is of waltz killing his partner weiser We now know that to be a fabrication which makes me think that the account of waltz and weiser killing the two mexican miners must also be false If as waltz claimed you have to climb up to get to the mine how then c...

Did Thorne depart from fort McDowell or from fort wingate? I dont even know where fort wingate was located Or did Thorne depart from an Indian village and if so which one? The Thorne narrative reads like a fairytale to me Alan m Fort Wingate still exists as an active military base. It is located in...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mah26og11ms That particular cicada is usually found around 5000+ ft elevation in areas such as Payson, Pine-Strawberry, and Prescott for example. They usually do their rattling sound in waves as shown in the youtube video and are only active in the summer. Same for t...

Re: Rock Walls

I've come across one of these rock walls along the Terrapin Trail about 5 minutes walk south of the Dutchman trail jtc. Back in Sept. 2011. I was wondering what they were for. The ones I took pictures of are in a different location. Rock walls are a hard one to put a date on when they were made, as...
