Hello Silent Hunter. I posted my email address on the other thread awhile back but haven't heard from you. I hope you're well and having fun. I got to visit a medicine wheel the week after the rendezvous. It was a good hike near the Salt River.
Take care,
George

I work M,T,W this week and then have 6 days off. I was planning on spending a couple of days poking around the Jesse Capen area and then heading over to the rendezvous.

Re: Rating Hiking the Superstitions
Hikearizona.com is the best hiking website that I've seen for Arizona. Joe Bartels has done a great job of putting together a nearly complete list of hikes in the state. Each hike has a double rating for trail finding and difficulty as well as distance and elevation change. I've done a couple of hik...

Re: Geronimo’s Head
Geronimo's Head is on my list of places to visit. I can't tell you much about it. However, I have visited a deep vertical shaft near Boulder trail. It was South of the trail, on the North-West side of a nearby peak. It was easy to pick out the site from the trail. The shaft was not very wide and the...

Re: Superstition Mountains hiker reported missing 7/1/12
Hi Kurt, sounds good. I've been doing some changes which are for the better. Changed jobs, working 3 12s now. Also bought a SPOT and got my general ham radio license. I have a small handheld 70cm/2m that I've been able to reach out from deep in the Supes. This week I'm starting a scuba class with my...

Kurt, I work tomorrow but can put boots on the ground Sat/Sun and can be there at O-dark thirty. Let me know where and when.

Re: "Born To Run"
He's been found but apparently in a rough enough area that they will have to go back in to extract him. The search would have been shorter if he'd left a route with someone behind. When I'm going somewhere I can't or don't want to describe, I leave a post it note with an arrow marking my destination...

Re: Jim Hatt - RIP
This morning was cloudy with a cool wind blowing. I made a trip with two others to scatter some of Jim's ashes in the Supes. The winds will finish the job of helping Jim explore every inch of those mountains. We stopped for rootbeers and Pepsi on the way back to the house. I expect he'll be laughing...

Re: Plane Crash at Lost Dutchman Mine Park 11/23
From the photos I've seen it looks like it's at the base of the hoodoos just north of the Flat Iron. The flight came from Safford to pick up three kids for Thanksgiving. The father was the copilot and there were two other adults on board. All six died. Very sad start of the holiday. Kudos to S&R...

I don't know about that pictograph but the Norsemen did visit the Americas about 1000 years ago. http://www.smithsonianmag.com/history-a ... kings.html
