Welcome to DUSA www. I don't live in the desert, but it gets hot in the summer where I do live. I keep my dry dog food in a garden shed which can get very hot and I've never had any problem. It's in the legume family I would assume. There are many different acacias as mentioned above. I blindly bought one from a nursery without knowing exactly what type (of acacia) it was.
