Re: my bomb run pics
Ken, The pictures of the dam were taken from the top of Sierra Peak, which is off of Main Divide Road. We got there by taking Maple Springs Road to Four Corners, then to Main Divide, over to Beeks Place, then on to the peak. You can get there from the Corona Side by using the forest entrance at Skyl...

Re: my bomb run pics
I try not to get TOO political in these forums, but I have to agree that showing pictures of a permitted race and of a legal OHV Area are no way to prove a point regarding illegal OHV use. I have no doubt that there are problems with illegal OHV use, but using pictures of LEGAL OHV use is no way to ...

Re: my bomb run pics
Sal, I have seen the exact same thing happen in areas denuded by development. I was in 29 Palms a few weeks ago when the wind was really howling. The dust and blowing sand in town were unreal! From what I could see, the majority of the dust and sand was coming from vacant lots and the berms along pa...

Re: Big Windstorm Right Now In 29 Palms
I hope everyone and their property made it through without too much damage! The remote weather stations showed gusts as high as 60MPH, but we know that the wind can get much higher locally. http://raws.wrh.noaa.gov/roman/gacc/socc_frame.html Last night would NOT have been a good night to spend in a ...

Re: the environmental cost of mining in the desert
Thank you both for your insights. As long as we can keep staying away from the personal attacks, this will continue to be a very interesting conversation. I was talking to my boss about solar power a while back. The one thing that became very clear is that those who have never seen a mirror array in...

Re: the environmental cost of mining in the desert
The one thing about mining that I can't seem to understand is why foreign companies are allowed to extract our natural resources. They exploit our land for their own profit. It would be a little different if the companies were American-owned. I guess that's just not how the United States works. Dan,...
