What are your desert goals this summer?
What are y'all going to do this summer? I am going to make this the best desert summer I have ever had. I bought a new camcorder and hope to post much better videos than the previous ones I have put on Youtube. Last year I took four weekend journeys to a region in Nevada just below the Oregon border...

Re: "Water. water, water...

The inborn failure of the capitalist system is that the rich have a vested interest in infinitely expanding our numbers for their benefit. There are over six billion peopl...

If I remember correctly, his first bite was from a timber rattler when he was a teenager. I remember read...

Re: Snakes of the Desert
Has it been established that hog noses are mildly venomous? As for coral snakes, this is the first time I have ever seen them referred to as a non-life-threatening species. Books.
I am interested in books about the desert by folks who write in the style of Abbey, Eiseley and Fletcher. Especially if they have a bent towards herpetology. Anyone have any suggested reading?

Re: Pepper Spray and Reptiles
My question is, what rattler is that? It looks like a mix between a Mojave, a Red Diamond and a Western Diamondback all in one snake.

Re: Wolf Spider
When I went back inside my room for the night, I literally tore the place apart to make sure none of those babies were inside with me. Illogical as it may be, I have a rather nasty case of arachnophobia.
