Re: Salton Sea camping

Thanks for responding SteveS but I'm back home. I didn't end up camping at the Salton Sea but I did go out for a day trip yesterday and had a great time. Just FYI, there is and has been some recent camping at the end of Poe Rd. so it would have worked out OK. That is a great location for shorebirds,...

Salton Sea camping

Hi all, I'm heading to SoCal for Xmas and would like to take a day or so to do some birding at the south end of the Salton Sea. Just wondering if anybody is familiar with free, primitive camping around there. There is an area at the end of Poe Rd. that looks promising, anybody been there or near by?...

Would a captive snake be able to make it on it's own in the wild again or do you think it wouldn't have much...

Thanks a lot, Paul. Nothing fancy, just a point & shoot and a little processing on the computer.

Re: Roll call!

I'm sorta still here. My wife and I, well mostly me, decided we could do without internet at home so we canceled our service and just go to the local library whenever we feel the need to get virtual - which isn't all that often these days. So, I still check in here every so often, just don't have mu...

PS: I like the 180 degree rotation of the photos to what you saw in the pools.
Thanks T-climber, I hope that doesn't make them "photoshopped".

Rafting Desolation Canyon, Utah

Last week I got a chance to raft Desolation Canyon on the Green River in Utah. It's about an 85 mile trip with nearly 60 rapids along the way ranging from riffles to Class III+. We hit the weather just about right, beautiful sunny days, no bugs with just a bit of rain on the last morning. Here are a...
