Re: The Killer Mountains
I would be inclined to read Killer Mountain, enjoy it, and call it a great "story". Knowing one of the actual people from that McGill party, I can tell you, it is fiction - and everything after page 46 came from the mind of the author - probably based on a few facts here and there, but, de...

Re: Information on The Black Eagle Mine
Sorry, didn't realize that. Let me try again. This is going to look horrible, but, I can't seem to get a good copy of a pdf to jpg conversion that can be read - so I copied it to notebook - the names and addresses are there, and the location and claim number, they just look horrible. Run Date/Time: ...

Re: Information on The Black Eagle Mine
Don't know if it helps at all, but, this is the only BLACK EAGLE I can find in California that is active. https://www.blm.gov/workspace/ihtml/OpenDoc?DocInstanceID=2&DocUUID=00000108df41a45a-0000-a09e-0a780c38&DocVersion=1&isSmartcut=true I have the page on PDF, but, don't know how to po...

Re: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Anything related to the LDM
Hi Brad, I was just curious - it was quite a site to see that group - were there for at least 2-3 weeks, though I don't know if they came and went, or what. I'm not sure your senator can help you out. A piece of ore certainly won't. You cannot get a Treasure Trove permit on a mine (though, if you fo...

Re: Bees
I forgot to mention that killer bees (or one who is a member of the hive) have one peculiar trait. They usually don't sting first - they will "head butt" you if you are getting close, or in their beeline. If you get a bee or two bumping into you - get away, its all the warning you may get....

Re: Bees
I'm allergic to bees, so, we are always very careful (I carry a bee sting kit). You really can't tell a killer bee from a regular bee, (even scientists have to do measurements), but, it doesn't matter because one killer bee queen will cause all the other bees in the hive to act just like the killer ...

Re: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Anything related to the LDM
If you aren't familiar with Bilbrey, here is a link you can read from Jim Hatt about it. You will see that the claim filed was down Peter's Canyon Trail. (not near Tortilla Ranch, but, you do have to pass it). http://www.desertusa.com/mb3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=370 The map is no longer on the site,...

Re: GENERAL DISCUSSION - Anything related to the LDM
Brad, Again, forgive me - we have been out in the mountains since October, so internet time is sketchy, at best, and few and far between. No, I wasn't referring to the Miller mines - geesh, 2 years ago, you could barely find them - grown over and sediment falling in (actually dangerous, because they...
