Hooch,
We're talking about a huge area, right? And the mine is in a Godawful rough place? What are the chances anyone would know?

Brad,
Then you have no personal knowledge handed down to you of Waltz having killed anyone? The two major sources on Waltz, Sims Ely and Dick Holmes, say, respectively, that he killed two men by accident whom he thought were Apaches working the mine, or that he killed his nephew and two or three other men over the years. I personally would hate to think of him as a cold blooded killer.

Bob,
I have no knowledge that Jacob Waltz killed anyone. Though I have read about Jacob Waltz in books killing several people if they got to close to his gold mine. Again there was no nephew. Jacob Waltz was on his own in the Arizona Territory.

I sure miss the good old days when Jim Hatt use to moderate on here. I spent many a days out at his place and time in the sups with him. He would say, if I person wont put their true name behind their post, then if they make grand claims on here, they should be taken with a grain of salt. Of course Jim put it a little more gruff than that.

Brad,
Here I am again with more questions for you. Can you shed any light ,from your own personal knowledge, of Waltz's life in Germany? Do you know if he ever sent any gold or money home to relatives? Did any of his family ever emigrate to the U.S.?

Bob,
I don't have any personel knowledge of Jacob Waltz personel life in Germany that I should speak of. I made a phone call back home and ask around if any gold was sent to Germany. No gold was ever sent to Germany. Jacob Waltz had a reason for leaving Germany. I have no comment on why he left Germany. The Walz family (descendents) all still live in Germany.

Brad,
Your answer is intriguing. There was a reason Walz left Germany? Since you seem unwilling to shed light on the reason, it leaves one to think he was in some kind of trouble, perhaps with the law. However interesting that story may be, though, it doesn't have anything to do with the ldm, does it?
On a different subject, did Walz have any experience or expertise as a mining engineer, as has been written in some accounts?

Bob,
Jacob Waltz did study mining in Germany, he never possessed a mining degree.
