Wild Onions in the Superstitions

Post by Jim Hatt »

On March 24, 25 & 26, 2010, silent hunter (Kurt) and I made a 3 day search for signs of Jesse Capen, around the base of Tortilla Mountain. Although we saw no sign of Jesse, Kurt did find something I had never seen in the Superstitions before. Wild Onions! They were the sweetest onions I have ever tasted!

Other than not finding any sign of Jesse, it was a great trip with no mishaps, and a beautiful time of year to be out on trail. All the washes were running with fresh cool water, Green grass growing everywhere, we saw no Rattle Snakes, no Gnats buzzing us, and the night air was just cool enough, to make it nice to have a campfire to share old "Zuni Trail" and "LDM" stories over.

Good to hear you had a good hike - sorry to hear no news about Jesse. I actually had a dream the other night that you and Silent Hunter had located his remains.

It sure would have been nice if we had Paul.
It is very hard to find the words to describe how sad it is, to come out of the mtns, and head for home, knowing Jesse is still out there somewhere!
