Police continue searching for missing Phoenix bicyclist

PHOENIX -- Police are searching for a 69-year-old Phoenix man who was last seen leaving for a bike ride Sunday afternoon.

Howard George Deshler, aka "Bud" Deshler, left his home near 56th Street and Lone Mountain Road in north Phoenix for a bike ride at approximately 1:30 p.m. Sunday. He has not been seen or heard from since.

According to police, Deshler is an avid bicyclist and typically would travel to the Pima and Dynamite Trail System. Police believe Deshler is in the area and possibly injured. They are searching for him in the north Phoenix and Scottsdale areas.

Deshler is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, 155 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair. He wears glasses and has scars on his arms.

He was last seen wearing a white shirt with blue-and-green writing, baggy black shorts and a gray bicycle helmet. He was carrying water in a tan hydration pack. He was riding a metallic-colored 26-inch Intense brand bicycle.
