Rocks from Southern Utah Desert
I found these two rocks last weekend in a Southern Utah desert wash. They were fairly close to each other. I picked the rounded one up because of the seashell imprint. I just liked the look of the other rock. I know little about geology. Does anyone know what these are, or how the seashell shape could find itself in a very hard rock in the desert?

Re: Rocks from Southern Utah Desert
Wow Again!
You guys have great eyes
that the rock with the seashell
I can only assume
was formed by sedimetation
Its an excellent find !
and the seashell should be identified as to what type
That's not to discount the other rock
that is some strange patterns
maybe a fern imprint --as a I wild guess
most likely natural imprints
but as another wild guess
it almost looks like it was chipped in
as if to be read
hopefully others will have insights
Thanks for posting rock2
