Edd I found a strange outcrop I have never seen before in the superstitions...It has round balls all throughout. The balls are round some perfect, there are veins running through them that surface. I will post a photo of a couple Monday. They are a couple differant colors including Red,White,Pink,Black and Gray, plus a couple other colors..Do you have any clue as to what they may be...I also found some horned coral, very nice specimens....

Ed,

You may be thinking of Moqui marbles which are sandstone, iron concretion. I have those here at my ranch in Texas.

Kurt says the ones he found have veins running through them.

It doesn't surprise me, since a lot of LDM hunters have lost their marbles there.

Thanks Homar !
that exactly what I was refering to.
Those stones are very cool

The ones I saw from Utah were silica based
and all different colors.
I suppose they too eroded from pockets in the limestone

Ever find any petrified palm wood on the ranch?
Ever been to Richardson Ranch?

Lost marbles in the Supes

Ed,

I've never been to any Richardson ranch, and I have never found any petrified palm wood on my place. I have found an arrowhead made of petrified palm wood, but I don't know if I still have that one.

My father did find quiet a bit of petrified wood on some ranch. They were moving dirt to make drilling rig locations. He gathered enough to make the interior part of a chimney, some stones were pretty large. There are some that look like palm wood, but what do I know?
