Cooper and I were searching around on the desert last night for those lost Utah prospectors and he found this small hawk dead in a cholla. It was also a great night for rattlesnakes because we were off the beaten path. We also found a rattlesnake. It looked like this little guy tried to catch another bird in the cholla and miscalculated his trajectory. I guess it might be a Kistrel Hawk, I believe that is close to the spelling. Anyone know for sure what kind of hawk this is? The hawk had been dead for a while, but well preserved from the heat and dryness of the desert. I thought it was a small hawk because of it's beak and talons.
