Very cool (brrrrr) indeed.

How was the ice formed in pictures 2, 4 and 5?

If you can't get warm, at least get some pictures, I always say.

I found some big piles of driftwood that had washed up along the banks of the river. Ice was coating the wood and melting off then refreezing like this-

The best ones, however, were touching the sand and being lapped at by the water as it moved on and off of the beach. I had to reach down with my little camera in between pieces of drftwood to get the shot I wanted and pretty much just shot blindly since I couldn't even see the screen.
Glad you guys like them.

YH, We love your ice photos. We live in a nice warm desert area and don't see much ice. We haven't had a decent freeze in four or five years around here. My wife is from St Johns and I know it get cold up on the Plateau with lots of ice in the winter time. Thanks for sharing.

Kurt:

My wife graduated from St. Johns High School a long time ago. We lived in Springerville and St Johns for a short time. To cold up there for an old desert rat from Apache Junction.
