The Sandhill Cranes have come back to Southeastern Arizona....
Does anyone remember a story from back in the 1960-1970's about a Sandhill Crane hunter who approached his wounded game and was fatally struck between the eyes by the bird's bill?
As I remember it, he was the only known hunter in Arizona to have been killed by the animal he was hunting.... I don't believe that part though because back in the 1930's (I think) the former owner of the XXX ranch on the Blue River was ultimately killed by a grizzly that he had wounded and followed.
What in the sandhill crane's that?

I never heard the story Terry. However, I do remember the guy that was shooting a Saguaro cactus with a 12 Gauge shotgun. Eventually he shot it enough times it fell over on him. The results was a fatal accident for a moron. This accident happen somewhere north of Cave Creek or out that way.
The moral of this story is: "Even an plant can get its revenge." I believe this character posthumously received the "Darwin Award."
