 Post subject: Desert tortoise conservation

For anyone who is concerned about the conflict between the desert tortoise and growing demand for solar energy development, check out the attached link. The research project is aimed at reducing solar development impact on the desert tortoise by selecting habitat that is less critical for their survival, and it has an opportunity for the public to be directly involved in funding it.

This is really great. I have run into 2 tortoises in my many years of travelling in the desert and each time was a real treasure. The idea of using a dog's nose to help find them is such a good one. I only hope that the dog can assist those who are able to gather data that will be able to be used on the front lines of the debate. I will spread the news.
