camping near pioneertown

Post by cercidium »

later this month i'm headed out to my first show at pappy & harriets. i'm hoping to find an area to camp afterwards, free of charge and free of people. being a denizen of s.e. california and southern arizona the area is fairly new to me. i'm looking for blm land, or some other, open country where sleeping is plentiful. any suggestions are welcome.

thanks!

Take a turn down a high desert road. Follow it till you've gone as far as you want. Park there. Camp.

Plenty of great spots, just give yourself a couple hours to explore and you're good. Great area around pioneertown.

Take Burns Canyon Road up towards Big Bear. Once you get past all the cabins, you should be able to find some good spots to camp. Go slow past the cabins as well as the area beyond it. Much of that land is a cattle grazing allotment, and the rancher is cool with people as long as they take it easy and leave his animals alone.
