I've written a couple of articles for Seattle Backpacker's Magazine on gas stoves and cold weather if anyone is interested:
Upright Canister Stoves (for moderate cold)
Remote Canister Stoves (for near zero weather)
Obviously, a stove can save your life in cold weather -- but this isn't exactly a S&R post either. Hmm. Well, mods can move or delete as necessary.

It's good info HJ, that could save someone's life.
If TC doesn't have any problem with it being off topic, I sure don't.

Dang! hj – you're about to get me fired again!
Can you somehow tie in these totally useless stoves (below 23,000' in really cold weather) to the desert?

TC,
I don't know anything about the 23,000 feet stuff, but relax.
I just doubled your Moderator pay!
