Quartzsite Az - Tucson Az - Jan and Feb 2011

Post by Jim_b »

Next week is the start of the Quartzsite shows, 2,000 vendors of rocks, gems, minerals, fossils and everything else imaginable create one of the world's largest open air flea markets in Quartzsite. Eight major gem and mineral shows as well as vendors of raw and handcrafted merchandise peddle their wares to snowbirds, collectors and enthusiasts, making Quartzsite the place to be the first two months of each year.

Next month Feb. the action moves to Tucson, Az for the big gem show. Every February, mobs of rockhounders, gem dealers, paleontologists, Native Americans, geologists and just plain curious converge on Tucson, Arizona for the annual Gem & Mineral Show.

Parking is not a problems, and free in most cases. There are motels in Quartzsite, however they fill up fast, most stay in Blythe, Ca about 20 min away via I 10.

Here a short video from last year, I plan to be there on the 5th of Jan and will take more pictures.

Thanks Jim!
That write up on DUSA is excellent!

I’m really debating about going this year
Only reason I don’t want to
is that I do my lapidary hobby on weekends
and I don’t want to forego a weekend
at least not up to Valentines Days

But this is the season of many Rock & Mineral Shows in the southwest
So you all get out and support your local rock hounds! :)

Ed

yes sir looking forward to viewing the video
as soon as I can get to a faster computer
