potatoes

Post by dirtdiver »

I'm curious if any of you Az rockhounders have run across any of these in your hounding travels. I call 'em potatoes because that's what they remind me of.

Hey Ed, the white nodules are agate and the brown matrix is a desert crust of some sort. When sliced open, this usually what is inside. Soooo, by the lack of opascity and the mohs hardness (7+), I'm assuming these are a type of jasper.

Ed,you may have noticed the big red/ green one the middle kinda resembles a rockin heart I did this year ;)
