Back packable dry washer.

Post by castle »

Not sure if a back packable dry washer exists, but if they do, I have a hard rock claim with about 120" of tunnel that I'd let someone work the floor with.

Have you thought about getting someone in there with a good gold metal detector? There's been a lot of finds that way in old mines.

Hello castle,

I have a feeling that everyone that reads this will have the same basic set of questions. If we can get the answers up now, it should help a lot of people decide if they want to try to undertake such a project.

1 - What State is it in?
2 - What part of that State?
3 - Is it in the a rugged area that is difficult to get to?
4 - How close can you drive to it?
5 - How safe is it to work inside?
6 - Have you ever swept the floor with a metal detector?
7 - Have you ever brought some of the floor material out and panned it"
8 - Have you ever recovered any precious metal the mine yourself?

I see Don and I were composing messages at the same time, mine took a little longer than his did, and a couple of the questions have already answered.

1. California
2. Goler Canyon/Panamint Mountains.
3. It depends on the rain fall. Usually 4x4 is needed for access.
4. Right to the base of the trail, then it's about a half hour hike.
5. Part of it is shored, part not. Unless you get stupid inside or a healthy earth quake, I'd not worry much about it.
6. No
7. No
8. yes.

I'm going to say you're close, but the wrong side of the canyon. I think you may have pointed out the Lotus/Keystone mine that is just above me.

Look on Google Earth at 35d. 51' 47.60" N. x 117d 08' 00.04" w and you'll be a lot closer.

OK, I think I see it now. If that's it. It doesn't look like it's too difficult to get to. I think you will probably find someone to clean it out for you. I cropped the maps down so so they do not show what part of the mountains it is in, or what major highways lead into it. If you want me to post a large area photo let me know, but for now I will leave it up to you to tell anyone interested how to get to the area on the map.

Wish it was in AZ, I'd take this up in a heart beat. I gotta portable dry-washer that runs off a gas vac-pac I built, and a 4x4.
