mindat.org

a massive data base for all things minerals
a very cool feature of this site is the locality search
put in state, county ect....
and it will list the minerals/rocks to be found in that area

Thanks guys. I just placed an order for a new rock hammer. The old one has dissapeared. Rock hounding is a great excuse to get off the couch and breathe some fresh desert air!

The rock pick and sheath just arrived. The folks at Bernies are nice people and dependable. Wouldnt you know it, as soon as I placed the order, my old rock pick was found out in the garage. Next on the list is a rock saw and polisher.

Hi Sandman

I take it you don’t reside near Phoenix? I could set you up quick.
My first & only lapidary grinder I bought was Lortone 8”
I don’t have a good picture of it but here it is from the website

I bought it a couple years ago & paid around $250.00 for it
minus motor. I had a used motor but you can buy them
for around 25.00. Anyway it’s a good spindle &
will accommodate up 3 wheel per side.
Although I don’t operate mine that way.
I just trade out wheels as I need them &
use right hand spindle for my expandable drum.
I like the 8” because it then allows you the option
to mount a 6” wheel also.

I’m sure you saw my Workforce wet saw I posted.
That highly recommended for a start-up.
Unless your shooting for something bigger and more powerful.

Well I hope to stay abreast of your machinery purchases and
good roc'n!

Ed
