Gold Producing Districts of the USA

Post by roc2rol »

Hi Everyone !

I got this book from the library.
The Library of Congress No. is: GS-341
Dewey Decimal-- 553.41097K8446p
This is the title page.
Image
It was copyrighted 1968. It list each state that has produced gold broken down by counties then districts.
It gives a short synopsis then of how much gold,
history of the mine & geologic history, ect.. ect… of that area.
It full of facts and numbers.
It may be hard to find besides a library.
I couldn’t find an internet link about it particularly.

I have the book for a few weeks.
So if anyone would like me to look up a state and county
I'd be willing to pass on any pertinent information from the book I can.

You can download a free copy of this in pdf format by going here:

http://mines.az.gov/Publications/circ020gold.html

You'll find it part way down the page, just click on the "here" tab then read it or print it out. Hope this helps...

Hey Plays! :) that link is really helpful. I’m just perusing the book out of general interest & thought if any one wanted quick info I’d try to provide. Give poor boy something to do. Plus make other aware of such a text. I have a slow speed internet connection so I didn’t try to hard to find the web site. Besides my searching skills aren’t all that great but I keep my fingers crossed.

Does that web site list other states besides Arizona?

I couldn't tell you roc but the link I gave points you to "Geological Survey Professional Paper #610" which is the one you show in your original post.

ah Yes Plays ! That must be the original publication with maps & graphs included.
Its a 23mb download so I haven't tackled that hour long process yet!
This hardcover book cost $4.95 in 1968 which is a bargain in todays prices and probably not a bad deal then.
So its really cool that it can be had for free now via technology.
Rocks & technology! what a great marriage :P
