Terry, there was a time when I cringed as I was logging on because I knew there going to be a lot of reports to deal with concerning something one member had posted to another, and have to make a decision in every case that someone would not be happy with.


Granted... It does get a little boring during the slow times when no Moderating is needed.

But to me it is just confirmation of a well managed Discussion Forum.

I'm glad it's settled down, but I've been on here for maybe ten years and there are so many folks that I miss, and the fellowship was incredible back when El Jefe was alive and Norm!, and others....There were some hippies and some cowboys.... A lot of variety and sometimes people would get upset, but more often then not we were a bunch of people sitting around a campfire.

One time a girl asked a question about the desert and I answered with a verse from the song by America "The desert is an ocean with its life underground and the perfect disguise above"... And that post became a sing along that lasted for many months as everyone chipped in verses of their favorite desert songs... That was certainly one of the highlights of the decade for me.

There were some kooks too. Good kooks and malicious kooks. Back in those days there was no moderation at all so those crazies pretty much got away with saying some unwelcome things. There was no identity registration either so one of those kooks would come on and say stupid stuff in someone else's name.. Boy, that was an irritation!

Been a long time here I guess but now we are dwindling in numbers. Many folks going to Facebook. That's pretty much where I can be found too. Look for reptilist. See ya around!

You did a great job of moderating, Rep, and we'll miss that. I agree it's not the same around here, especially without some of the old favorite posters. I also think the forum is still suffering from the acrimony that got out of hand a few years ago. I know that some people stopped visiting before the worst offenders were finally sent packing, but I hope that they will eventually come back and that others discover the forum. Anyway, thanks for what you (and the other moderators) have done.
