The one thing that really struck me as I was driving down through the Mojave Preserve and then down through Amboy to 29 Palms was how much traffic there is on those 2 lane highways! I remember camping in some of those areas with my dad 45-50 years ago and if we saw even one other vehicle out there my dad would say something like, "It's kind of crowded out here today."
Now, endless streams of cars and tour busses use them to avoid the interstates, I guess.
Trashing the Mojave with these shoe trees and writing your name with rocks is apparently the thing to do out there these days.
