Putting Photos in posts!

Post by Desert Cruiser »

Putting photos in posts is pretty easy here if you follow a couple of simple suggestions. First you should go to Photobucket and sign up for a free account http://photobucket.com/ This is free and easy to sign up for. When you get to the second or third page of the sign up you'll get to a page that ask a lot of questions not related to the sign-in. This an advertisement -- go to the bottom of the page and click the button that says SKIP to bypass that page and get on with the sign-in. Once you get signed up and are in the image upload box it'll look like this:

Image
You'll see where you can add photos from your computer and choose files - when you click on choose files you'll be looking at a window with the contents of your computer. Then you have to find the images you want to upload. Hold down the control key while selecting them to add more then one at a time. Also note that at this time you can control the size of the photos added. Here I choose 640 X 480. in the box.

Once you have an image (s) uploaded you can add a tittle and description if you like then click on the Return to Album:

When your done uploading you'll see the album you created. You can resize the photo here also and you can get the IMG URL for uploading to this site -- see the text in red!

If you go to the resize it page it will look like this. You just change the pixel dimensions in the boxes.

When you go to the SHARE section by clicking on the share text you'll see this box -- Click once on the text in the box -- Image for bulletin boards and forums -- this will highlight the URL text in black. NOW hold down your Ctrl (control) Key and while holding it down press the C key, this will save the url in your clipboard.

Now your ready to post a message with a photo imbedded. Once you get into the message box --- DON'T Use the IMG button on the top --- instead you'll hold down the Ctrl Key again and this time hit the V key which will paste the image URL into the message where you want it. See this next one for an example:

All the images here were done this way. Good luck and if you have any questions, ask!

If anyone is having a problem with putting photos in their posts then please start a new thread here and we'll be glad to help you. Putting photos in here as an attachment is a pain ---- please open an online photo sharing account and go about it as described above. This thread is locked and replies are no longer valid here, please start a new topic called Photo Question.

Thanks

Photo Sizes

You should try to refrain from putting photos larger than 800 pixels wide on the forums message board. There is no law governing this but there is advantages:

(1) They will load faster than larger photos thus giving you a bigger viewing audience.
(2) Viewers won't have to scroll sideways to see the whole image, making it more easily viewable.
(3) This will save you space on your online photo storage site. They limit your number of photos based on file size. smaller means more!
(4) It's etiquette. Larger doesn't impress anyone.

If your not sure yet then see this post http://www.desertusa.com/mb3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=305

Have any questions, then please start a new message thread named Photo Question and we'll help you if we can.
