Ocotillo Wells, CA - California State Parks has recently opened over 80,000 acres of magnificent desert for off-road exploration and recreation within the boundaries portrayed on this map. Outside the boundaries, to the south and east, large tracts of BLM land are also open to off-highway vehicles. The western boundary and part of the northern boundary connect with the half-million acre Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, which is closed to off-road recreation, but open to exploration by highway-legal vehicles along established primitive roads. DesertUSA is now podcasting videos on desert animals and related desert subjects. Podcasting is the method of distributing multimedia files, such as audio or video programs, over the Internet using syndication formats. The videos can be transferred to a portable player (e.g., iPod) or played on your computer.

At the present time a program called iTunes is the best software to use for the videos. iTunes is a free program for Windows and Apple computers. The iTunes Music Store has shows from ABC News, CNN, ESPN, NPR, DesertUSA and more — subscribe free and voila! iTunes automatically downloads each new episode as it becomes available. iTunes is on about 45,000,000 computers today.
