Rare Tribal Mob (Taos Pueblo)
ROBERT MIRABAL - MUSIC FROM A PAINTED CAVE reflects Mirabal's unique position as a man of two cultures. As a native of the American Southwest - the Taos high desert has been the home of his people for more than 1,000 years - he performs and speaks from the rarely heard Native American perspective. In non-performance segments throughout the program, Mirabal relates some of the history of the Native-American people and tells the story of their life today.
It includes all of the concert footage from the PBS show, all of the 10
minutes of bonus footage released on the VHS version, PLUS an additional twenty minute feature about the band, their work and their lives, entitled "Warrior's Weekend." This extra feature is availible only on the DVD release and features interviews with Robert and the band members and dancers, behind the scenes rehearsal and backstage footage, and revealing glimpses into who they are and how they make music and dance together. Another big bonus feature is that the entire concert has been remixed in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound for an incredible audio experience!
MUSIC FROM A PAINTED CAVE also includes appearances by world champion Native-American dancers, who perform both traditional dances and contemporary variations, directed by renowned choreographer Boye Ladd.
