The Annual Morongo Basin Orchid Festival will again open its doors this Saturday and Sunday, October 2nd and 3rd. As is true every year, the Festival is centered around Gubler Orchids in Landers, California. The Festival offers free behind the scenes tours that are not otherwise available to the public, both free and fee-based orchid classes, many rare orchids for sale, vendors selling unique items, and a free live jazz band, great food and drink for all ages, including the Trader Joe’s wine and cheese tasting and much much more for the entire family including our new Children’s Fun Zone!

Every guest who comes through the festival gates at Gubler Orchids will receive one of the specially printed Rotary Bucks. Festival attendees will also receive varying numbers of additional Rotary Bucks for their orchid purchases and their food and drink purchase at the various booths run by the Yucca Valley Sunset Rotary club. It is then up to you to distribute the Rotary Bucks into your favorite charities’ donation jars.

Each Rotary buck put into REACH OUT MORONGO BASIN donation jar will be exchanged by the Sunset Rotary Club for at least one REAL dollar donation to REACH OUT MORONGO BASIN.

Join the fun and check out this unique Orchid Nursery that has been in the MojaveDesert since 1975.  All of the information you need to get there and to see pictures of past events is at this link.

Take It Easy – Mojave

For the purposes of this blog I call myself Mojave because of my love for the Mojave Desert. I have lived in the Yucca Valley area of the Hi-Desert since 1976, I have always loved our Mojave Desert. My appreciation for the Mojave has grown even more over the years. I was a Career & Technical Education teacher and coordinator at the high school level for 25 years. In 2018 I was hired as a Job Developer as well as a part-time college instructor at Copper Mountain College. I also served on the Town of Yucca Valley Planning Commission for 5 years and am a current elected Town Councilman and serve as the Mayor Pro-Tem. In my spare time I enjoy researching desert facts, exploring the desert, geocaching and enjoying the many animals that keep my wife and I very busy. My wife and I also run "Tres Burros Ranch" an Airbnb Vacation Rental in The Mojave Desert (Yucca Valley) where our guests get a up close and personal "Burro Encounter".
