8:00 a.m. Hike – Roving Naturalist in Borrego Palm Canyon 4 Hours
Volunteer Naturalist Toni Alexander will be roaming the Borrego Palm Canyon Trail searching for bighorn sheep and other interesting features along the trail. Look for her in her volunteer vest as you hike to the palm oasis. This is not a guided hike. $8 Day use Fee required to park at trailhead.

Native Plant Sales, Garden Walks, and Native Plant Use Demonstrations both days. Artisans from Baja California will have baskets, pottery for sale. James Lightner walk and talk on Saturday.

11:30 a.m. Walk – Native Plant Walk with James Lightner 1 Hour Join plant expert James Lightner for a walk around the Visitor Center as he introduces some of the principal trees and shrubs of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. $10/$5 for ABF members.
1:00 p.m. Lecture – – James Lightner, author of San Diego County Native Plants 1 Hour Meet in the Discovery Lab at the State Park Visitor Center, for this talk sponsored by the Anza- Borrego Desert State Park Botany Society. Seating is limited.
7:30 p.m. – Campfire – – Ranger Encounters! 1 Hour Join Ranger Don to explore the multitude of remarkable experiences a Ranger might encounter while patrolling Anza-Borrego Desert State Park’s great expanses! Meet at the Borrego Palm Canyon Campground Campfire Center. P.S. Campfire songs are always a possibility.

Join Volunteer Naturalist Ann Keenan for a walk around the Visitor Center vicinity looking for the common birds of our desert. All birding levels welcome.
Meet in the Visitor Center parking lot. Please bring binoculars. Rain cancels.
9:00 a.m. Junior Rangers at Bow Willow Campground 45 Minutes
Join Ranger Dennis at Bow Willow Campground to learn about some of the unique plants found in
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, in this program geared for children, ages 7-12.
10:00 a.m. Hike – Voices, Visions, and Views of Alcoholic Pass 3 Hours
Hike Alcoholic Pass! Join Volunteer Naturalists Ron & Peg Poitras to experience and discover the prehistory, history, and present day journey of those who have used this trail for food, water, work, and fun. Meet at the north end of DiGiorgio Road. Bring water, snacks and wear hiking boots.
11:00 a.m. Talk – – “Song Dog” … The Wiley Coyote 45 Minutes Have you heard them at night? Have you seen them…even during the day? Coyotes are increasing their range and increasing their numbers, and they’re right here in the Park and in town too! Join Volunteer Naturalist Thad McManus as we explore the myths and realities of our desert neighbor.
