Re: Grand Canyon Rattlesnake
...Great paper by somebody (Holycross probably) about the relationships and gene connections in the old western (cv) rattlesnake. Sycamore found the citation: Douglas, Douglas, Schuett, Porras, Holycross. 2002. Phylogeography of the western rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis) complex, with emphasis on t...

Re: Grand Canyon Rattlesnake
Well Rick, The Grand Canyon Rattlesnake ( Crotalus oreganus abyssus ), the Midget Faded Rattlesnake ( Crotalus oreganus concolor ), and the Great Basin Rattlesnake ( Crotalus oreganus lutosus ), are all subspecies of the "Western Rattlesnake" clade... perhaps their young look similar to e...

Re: Pepper Spray and Reptiles
My question is: Who's going to hold their hand 12" from a snakes head for (6) seconds? I wouldn't spray a snake with anything preferring instead to move away and leave it alone. Who posted that?? It is supposed to be 6" away for 12 seconds!!    Sycamore

Re: "Far From Cactus Flats"
...I do know about that outfit; ASIA, and I have a love / hate feeling for their office in St George. I seem to spend about a $100 every time I walk into that place. I would recommend anyone going into the Strip to stop at this place, and just plan to send a few bucks. BTW if ya like maps, plan to ...

"Far From Cactus Flats"
I really enjoyed reading this book. Has anyone else read it? It is the story of one of the Bundy family from the Arizona Strip, and his service in WWII. During the telling of the tale, a real picture is obtained of life on the Strip, in the first half of the 20th Century. The author is Lyman Hafen, ...
