I had a Garrett, I don't know what they had. Not all metal detectors do well when looking for gold. The ones they sell today are much better then what we had back in 1996-99.

When visiting the Death Valley area be sure to stop in Ballarat and see Rock Novac he has lots of stories about the area and the men who lived there. A real interesting guy.
