The one thing that really struck me as I was driving down through the Mojave Preserve and then down through Amboy to 29 Palms was how much traffic there is on those 2 lane highways! I remember camping in some of those areas with my dad 45-50 years ago and if we saw even one other vehicle out there ...

I don't think there is any car repair garage at this old filling station on route 66. It's been sort of turned into a roadside tourist place, with some antiques and a little store.........they have put in some pit toilets just to the right side out fo the photo. I have driven by this place 3 or 4 ti...

Great town Calgary is !!! The desert kind of goes in waves, the lower elevations will be the first to bloom, and the higher elevation, the later the blooms........so if you go in March try the lower elevation areas like below 2400'. I would check here regularly as people do wild flower reports now a...

The road is windier on the Vegas side of the pass............once you get to the top (mt. Springs), there is a little bar off to the north side of the road (just off the road down a little hill)............then the road down into Pahrump is straighter, so you should get some good speed and coasting ...
