Re: Enviros split on Interior solar plan

The land use for much of the southern portion of California is being looked at. The Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan has been initiated. Now would be a good time to get involved in the process.

Re: New Tain in the Mojave Desert ?

Lots of talk about where the water will come from but nothing about how it's going to be heated. The California EPA is going after smaller and smaller sources of air pollution. I can't imagine how a black smoke belching locomotive could pass the environmental review.

Enviros split on Interior solar plan

It looks like you can't please everyone, even if they are on the same side . Columnist: "The mammoth Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) for solar development on public lands in six southwestern states was released July 24, and environmentalist response has been, like the PEIS's...

Military hinders wind energy

Looks like another road block in renewable energy for California. With a PowerPoint presentation and a dot of red light, military officials dropped a bomb on California’s wind energy industry at a recent public meeting. Using a laser pointer, a Navy official outlined on a map a vast area where the m...

Re: Ocotillo Wind Express Energy Project

These people talk about how wind turbines destroy the landscape...yet their supporters like Brew think nothing of encouraging millions of dirt bike riders to leave their marks on the same landscape. go figure! Sal, I have never stated my opinion on wind power. European nations are generally very pr...

Re: Ocotillo Wind Express Energy Project

On a related note: Wind Power Is Dying (full story)= http://frontpagemag.com/2011/08/28/wind-power-is-dying/ While the U.S. is dumping billions of dollars into wind farms and onshore and offshore wind turbines, this energy source is being cast aside as a failure elsewhere in the world. Some 410 fede...

Re: Ocotillo Wind Express Energy Project

Stopping that project will be an uphill battle. The Obama administration is pro-green power, but passes over other environmental issues. Not even the mighty desert tortoise can block solar projects. http://www.pe.com/localnews/environment/stories/PE_News_Local_D_tortoises11.38e3062.html Federal land...

Re: Water in the desert

There are many scientific studies backing up what anyone can see after a rain in the desert. THe water runs off the hills in the ruts,(now deep furrows)collects in puddles and is evaporated. Sal, why doesn't the rain water soak into the ground below the ruts? The surface crust has already been brok...
