Re: Parashant

I seem to fall off the wagon on this site with some regularity. I am planning another trip to Parashant this upcoming presidents day weekend. It is really rare that I still make it out there seeing as I now reside in South Carolina. I do not have much details or really even a destination, but seeing...

Re: Parashant

My trip down to Parashant was super fun this past January. We camped just a little ways down from the Tassi Ranch. We were a little disappointed to see the trail closure gate installed in the small canyon that heads east from Tassi Ranch proper. We ended up camping right off the runway just south of...

Re: Parashant

The tree I cut down was standing, but it was completely sheared off about 12 foot above the ground and the bark was falling off the rest. So I cut it down. She tells me that ANY standing tree is to be left alone. There was other wood in the area, but none right around our campsite. I mentioned that ...

Re: Parashant

Wow, it has been a long time since I have checked in with this forum. I have been to Parashant 3-4 more times since my last post. I now live in NE Nevada, so my trips to Parashant only come about once a year. In fact we are planning a trip in the coming weeks, if you want some details email me at mh...

Trip Report

So I just got back from a two day 200+ miles excursion into the AZ strip. After the consistent rains of last week there were some serious concerns about mud and washed out road conditions. The worst road we encountered was the 242 coming up from Mesquite up and over Lime Kiln Canyon. There were nume...

Dead Forum

Is this place alive? I post all the time about trips to the AZ strip and no one EVER responds. I only give about a months notice of a trip and not a single soul replies. It would be ok if I got 20 ney's, but I get nothing. Why does this forum even exist? Should I write the sierra club directly? At l...

Re: Parashant

Well a lot has happened in the past month. I did buy another Nissan, so I guess my moniker can stay for now. I went to do a pre-run for our trip next week. Anyone in the SW right now knows how crappy the weather has been the past couple of days. I went out in the PNM by myself for just a couple of h...

Re: Parashant

I am putting together a trip to see Toroweap on December 27th & 28th. We will leave Las Vegas early on that Monday. Most people could make this a day trip if they wanted, but who would only want to spend just a day out there!?! PM me or send me an email to mghattendorf@yahoo.com if you want more...

Re: Parashant

I was flying in from Denver to Vegas today and flew right over the heart of Parashant. I was able to notice numerous familiar trails out there based on the landing strips that I could tell from 10,000' feet up. It was cool and makes me want to head back out there.
