Re: Who is Carlos de Rojas?

I don't really have any info on Rojas that you have not already found, but am tagging this thread so I can follow it as I am also interested. Roy & deducer, This question was first asked by Azmula a number of years ago on the LDM Forum. There was some discussion at that time. As I'm sure you ar...

Re: SUPERSTITION WILDERNESS AREA PLACE NAMES & LANDMARKS

Ditto to what Joe said - thanks Tom and you ARE the best! I hope you will consider writing a book explaining all the place names in and around the Superstitions, or at least some of them. I fear that some of the old names will be lost unless they are published in a book. I hope that you and Sharon a...

Re: Lost Mines/Digs

The USGS has been quietly erasing old mines, trails, springs, ruins, and caves from their topo maps. I would highly recommend getting OLD topo maps which usually show such features. The stated reason as to why these important geographic features are being erased is to "protect the resource"...

Re: Emil and Julia Thomas Bakery

Not to aggravate the thread owner - but to mi amigo Paul, we are sorry that we won't make it this year. I hope it will be a great one though, and wish we could be there. As far as I know, it sounds like Loke will not make it this time either. We were pretty lucky about the storm, north of us got ove...

Re: Why didn't Waltz file a claim?

Great explanation Ashton - I would only add that the "lighter" is not a lighter, it is a matchbox. There are several other pieces of jewelry made from the same ore, however photos are not easy to come by. Hooch if you would do some research on the Lost Dutchman mine, you might be surprised...

Re: Emil and Julia Thomas Bakery

Hola amigo Ozarker and everyone, <heh heh> thanks for the chuckle, and I decided to just put Mr Roberts on ignore, rather than continue to take his bait. Sometimes people with guilty conscious problems see conspiracies all around them, engaging them in their beliefs only reinforces them. Much of thi...

Re: Emil and Julia Thomas Bakery

To all, I would only add that we ought not throw too many stones at Sims Ely, for errors found in his book. He wrote it in the last days of his life, in fact while he was in a sanitorium; he was working from memory largely, aided by the notes taken many years previously. Further still, the actual bo...
