Re: SIMS ELY'S BOOK - The Lost Dutchman Mine

Jim,

I should have been more clear about what book those "clues" came from. I just felt that since they supposedly originated from Thomas/Petrasch, they pertained to this discussion. If not, im sorry for putting them here.

thanks,
travis

Re: SIMS ELY'S BOOK - The Lost Dutchman Mine

Jim, You back up, I havent dug ANY holes out there! Those quotes are all from Corbins "Bible". The theory is my own, but all of those quotes came from that book. I have also heard the version you are describing, but who can be sure? It makes more sense to me that if the camp is near ...

Re: SIMS ELY'S BOOK - The Lost Dutchman Mine

Jim, It could very well be what youre saying. Here's my reasons to think it's close to the camp. 1) "I used two of the Mexicans holes" ( My opinion is the Mexicans would have made them "close" to the mine) 2) "I dug two of my own" 3) "None are within site of each o...

Re: THE BARK NOTES on - The Lost Dutchman Mine

Jim, (laughing) I got off in one spot to "lead" my horse as it was about 300 feet straight down and that sorry sucker "burroed up" on me and wouldnt even LEAD over the trail! Well, we couldnt turn around so i threw a leg over and gave him a little "love tap" with the le...

Re: THE BARK NOTES on - The Lost Dutchman Mine

Hey Ashton, I agree. There would be no reason, in my mind, that Waltz would have to "mark" the trail. Maybe the Mexicans had marked it, and the story was "twisted" by the writers until it was Waltz that had marked the trail? The only reason the "frying pan" thing makes ...

Re: THE BARK NOTES on - The Lost Dutchman Mine

Thanks for the welcome Jim! I wrote "book" but meant "notes". I was actually referring to the Bark notes. I agree a lot of the "modern" writings have seemed to "regurgitate" Sims' writings. I agree, you definately have to get into them "hills" to see...

Re: SIMS ELY'S BOOK - The Lost Dutchman Mine

Hey Jim,

I see that you disagree with me, but i dont see YOUR explanation as to why Waltz said "you cant find one without the other".

thanks in advance,
Travis

Re: SIMS ELY'S BOOK - The Lost Dutchman Mine

Hello, It is my opinion that when Waltz said "you cant find one without the other", there was a major reason for this. I believe the "cache" in the "walled up tunnel". The tunnel is supposed to be directly across from the "camp". (Which i believe is the reason...

Re: THE BARK NOTES on - The Lost Dutchman Mine

Hey Ashton, The version i read at the Phoenix Library did have the "side notes", but they didnt seem like "opinions" to me. In the version i read through, the sidenotes were pointing out discrepancies such as dates, like Bark seeing Julia in the summer of 1893, and things like th...
