About 30 years ago my family and I were at Tonto National Monument.
It was towards dusk and we were the only visitors.
This must have been the lower monument.
I know it was fair hike up to it
Looking off towards the north
was this incredible thunder cloud moving in.
I was imaging what it must have been like
Witnessing this in ancient days?
Wonder, concern, excitement.
About then my little five year old daughter
grabbed my hand and said:
“Daddy. We better go. The Indians are coming home.”
Looking down at her I was thinking in my head
Ya know -your right.
And we left that hallow sight/site.
