Hey Toad,

Would you like to go hiking/climbing for several days in the near future?

If I'm the "Toad" then I'd love to...the stars are not in alignment, however.

All the usual lame excuses...plus I had to give up spontaneity, it's just too hard to plan for.

I'm lusting after Tahquitz Canyon, though. You'll hear from me again on this.

You are the one and only "Toad"

Don't let your life pass you by.

Forget about Tahquitz Canyon,

That's a cake walk!

Waiting,

Hey all, PCSO SAR Posse update.

3-16 3 experienced hikers on multi day hike overdue. Rogers Trough to Haunted Canyon and back. Well equipped for hike, underestimated the length and time. Contacted RP with updated ETA. Call cancelled.

4-1/2 Group hiking Barks Canyon. Hiker stepped in hole and twisted ankle sustaining broken fibula around 2130. All well prepared for overnight. Due to rugged terrain call was made for short haul at daylight. Patient out of field at 0750, group out at 1000.

4-2 Picacho Peak. 2 hikers reportedly on Hunter Trail and out of water with symptoms of dehydration. SAR personnel used RP's phone GPS and determined they were on Sunset Trail, not Hunter Trail. Deputy handled the call with assistance from park rangers.

4-3 Devils Canyon/ Oak Flats. callout around 2000. Deputy on scene used night vision goggles and spotted their campfire from the rim of Devils Canyon. Hiked in and led them out.

4-16 4 hikers hiking ridgeline in 90 degree plus temps. NEVER recommended. Group nearly out of water split up around Hieroglyphic Canyon. 3 hiked out and called 911. callout at 2030, crews in field by 2110. While driving in to TH, team member spotted a light coming down Carney Springs. Picked up subject and transported to Lost Goldmine TH. Teams out of field at 2230.

The broken leg was wearing proper footwear and using hiking poles. Just stepped in the wrong place at the wrong time. The others appeared to be underestimating the mountain and canyons. We have had MANY Ridgeline rescues in the past year from people not realizing that it is a very difficult and LONNNNGGG hike. Not your average 13 mile hike.

Thanks for the updates.

What was the problem with the folks on the Devils Canyon/ Oak Flats hike? Just caught out after dark?

10-4. It is really dark, especially when you aren't sure where you are. The canyon is very overgrown with not alot of ways out. Easy to misplace the proper egress. Sometimes they move you know. People don't get lost, the trail does.
I have seen odd things in Devil's Canyon before. Hence the name. Also a large proliferation of coati mundis. When they are chattering, it can get really weird.
