All of my pics were loaded onto my then girlfriends computer which she sold. I can create a link to some friends pictures if I still have them... Stay tuned...Sycamore wrote:Tommy,

Pictures can be loaded onto memory sticks as a back up. It's too bad you lost your stuff.
Although the Parashant NM is some distance away, I look forward to visiting again. Former President Clinton had great foresight to preserve this magnificent place for the enjoyment of all. God Bless America

Losing those pictures wasn't too big of a deal. We go at least twice a year so I think I have older pictures...Sandman wrote:Pictures can be loaded onto memory sticks as a back up. It's too bad you lost your stuff.
Here is a link to a page I started to set up but lost interest inhttp://adventureontheazstrip.blogspot.com/
It has most of my older pictures IIRC

Tommy,
Did you ever get a copy of "Far From Cactus Flat"? I sent an email to your old address, but never heard back. My web provider trips a few spam filters. Hopefully if you answered, it didn't go into my spam trap.
I'm looking forward to another trip out to the Strip, might try a little hiking on the eastern part next.
Got a new map last week from Trails Illustrated, "Grand Canyon West", it is a nice scale for planning and orienting oneself to the horizon, etc.

I got your email. I guess I never responded... I was a bit overwhelmed for a while, but things are back to normal.Sycamore wrote:Tommy,

I never did get a copy of that book. It sounds really interesting. Now that the weather is clearing up I I'm thinking about riding my motorcycle to St. George to check out the visitor center again and buy some books. Maybe I'll get to meet Ranger Ray in person.
I'm off for five days! I wish it wasn't so muddy because I would be out on the strip exploring right now.

Tommy,
I have a free weekend this weekend. If you want to go to the strip for an overnight either Saturday or Sunday night let me know. I can pack up and roll out pretty quickly, mud or no mud.

Mark. I made plans to go to the Nationals out by Randsburg on my bike. I was supposed to leave today but found a few surprises that needed to be dealt with on the bike.NissanBoy wrote:Tommy,

I'm not sure I'm ready for another mud trip after last year's. It was a little scary...

Re: Parashant
The mud wasn't too bad yesterday morning, but once I hit the snow line I thought I would be ok since it wasn't too deep. Anyway I did slide a little and without a winch I made the decision to not proceed any further up the 1041 towards the backside of Elbow Canyon. Plus I keep having the bolts that hold my manual front hubs shaking loose and coming out. I have locktited them previously, but I might need to use some stronger formula. I lost 5 of 6 on one side alone!

Re: Parashant
Do you have a lockright in the front of that? If you finally get them to stay tight they will start to break. Some companies make stud kits for front hubs because lockers cause that problem. Look for Toyota specialists. I think All Pro is one. Spidertrax might have them too...NissanBoy wrote: I have locktited them previously, but I might need to use some stronger formula. Re: Parashant
Not a lockrite in the front, but it is Lincoln locked. I used some stronger formula locktite this time around so we will see how long it holds. If I start breaking studs that will probably be a sign of more serious issues going on up front.
