K9 on patrol at Imperial Sand Dunes

Post by Jim_b »

Almost 80,000 visitors enjoyed bluebird skies over the Halloween Weekend at the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area. Making sure those visitors stayed safe were an elite group of individuals and their four-footed partners -- the BLM Police Canine Teams.

Guess what they found.

A police dog on every street corner! Won't we be safe then!
I got no use for nazi tactics deployed against 'free' citizens.

My opinions are biased on this subject.

Having recently worked with Federal Law Enforcement, I can say that I have seen that there is a LOT of extra work involved with being a K9 officer. And extra love...and extra, extra sorrow when a K9 is injured or lost in the line of duty.

On the other hand, if some one could train a dog to sniff out young, shaved-head, over-tatooed a-holes who drink too much and use drugs too much and make a family-friendly off-road venue a war zone, I'd most likely wholeheartedly support that. Of course, the dog would be accused of profiling and taken to court by the ACLU (A-hole Cockroach Liberties Union).

I too, hope to never see a police dog on every corner. The money needed to scoop all that poop will indeed break the financial back of our society. :D

You'd be surprised how many shave-head, tattoo-ed young men do not drink or use other drugs! The idea should be to put a stop on destructive behavior, but not assume that people are going to be that way by the way they look, or even using their drug of choice. When someone gets out of line, lock them up. Until then, back off.

Ocotillo Wells SRVA reclaimed the park back from the pre-runner, tatooed, backwards hat wearing, shaved head, goatee'd a-holes. The families now have a safer and more fun place to offroad thanks to the efforts of the rangers. Now those guys have go to the dunes to party and fight.

Dear kindly Sergeant Krupke,
You gotta understand,
It's just our bringin' up-ke
That gets us out of hand.
Our mothers all are junkies,
Our fathers all are drunks.
Golly Moses, natcherly we're punks!

Gee, Officer Krupke, we're very upset;
We never had the love that ev'ry child oughta get.
We ain't no delinquents,
We're misunderstood.
Deep down inside us there is good!

Dear kindly Judge, your Honor,
My parents treat me rough.
With all their marijuana,
They won't give me a puff.
They didn't wanna have me,
But somehow I was had.
Leapin' lizards! That's why I'm so bad!

Some things never change, I guess. The poor tatoo-hat-goatee-vile-music youth of today! They're just victims of intense marketing that has them acting out an a-hole lifestyle in an attempt to feel that they belong.

Maybe I should start marketing my own "Curmudgeon" brand of lifestyle. Think Browning meets Clint Eastwoods "Gran Torino". The rugged, pissed-off outdoorsman. With the right ad campaign, I bet we could get a whole lotta mean old bastards (like me!) to completely run the 20's-tatoo-goatee-vile music-sensitive little darlings off the public lands and straight into Government-funded therapy.

Yer tax dollars at work :D

Of course, it'll be pesos by the time I pull this off...
