I tried to post this last night but apparently it didn't stick.
Anyway, I found the full online text of this 1908 desert classic by William T. Hornaday by accident. I haven't read it myself yet, but thought other reader types here might enjoy it as well.
I believe it's about a bighorn sheep hunting expedition in S. Arizona and the Pinacate region of Mexico.

Re: Campfires on Desert and Lava
Thanks Yuccahead! I've always thought I'd like to know more about the Pinacate region in Mexico as it's really not far from here (Yuma). I'll have to take a look at the book.

Re: Campfires on Desert and Lava
I've seen this book listed as a source for other books about Desert Bighorn, probably as an historical record.
Hornaday was quite the big game hunter and the Boy Scouts, I think, have an award or something in his name.
The Cabeza Prieta area and the Pinacate were really unknown and unmapped areas 100 yrs ago as he writes in the introduction. I just got started with it and hope to get a couple of chapters read each week.
