Really nice sequence of photos! I'm still trying to get a good look at a flash flood around here, it's nearly impossible to predict which canyon is going to flash during any given storm and then getting to them is not easy. Maybe someday.

Tradclimber, Thanks. I used to live in California for 34 years before I moved to Arizona, and I've been to the Santa Rosa mountains. Very interesting and historic range of mountains!

The following Images were shot during a flash flood we experience in the Moapa Valley of Southern Nevada in 2005. The extremely heavy rains that caused this flooding of the Muddy River occurred many miles up stream from us.

The first two images are of Cooper Street right down from our home and property.

This next image was our neighbor who was attempting to rescue his livestock who were completely surrounded by the flood. Cooper Street is in the foreground and is completely under water.

These next two images were shot from our friends balcony showing their stable and riding arenas below their home. The Muddy River is just behind their property.

This next image is of the Muddy River at a crossing. The road was completely washed-out and had to be rebuilt.

Around the valley during the flood.

Great photos! There's no question that water is the most powerful force on earth. I have been chased around by a number of thunderstorms and flash floods throughout the years. Sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge to find the happy medium between getting caught in the flood and being the tallest thing around (lightning concerns).
